Can I Become a Foster Carer?

Together with support from Progress, you can make an invaluable difference to the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people as a foster carer.

Progress seeks people who:

Our regulations dictate you must have a spare bedroom for the looked-after child. Fostering is not always an easy choice; caring can be demanding and at times a challenge for you and your family, but you have the chance to help a vulnerable child attain and develop the skills they need for adulthood.

We will give you honest feedback and advice while you consider taking this important step and are available to answer queries or concerns as they arise. Becoming a foster carer is a serious matter for both you and Progress and for that reason, application and registration are not rushed. You can expect the whole process to last a minimum of six months – upon completion you are sure to know you have made the right decision.
